High Standards: As part of the hiring process, Propio carefully screens both the English and target-language skill-level of each applicant. Unless the applicant is highly skilled in both languages, they will not be hired.
“Propio provides over-the phone interpretations for us for simple needs as well as for more complicated medical terminology and dialogue. We feel confident in the competency of their interpreters in providing these services. The interpreters are always friendly and professional.” Teri B., Personal Health Svcs, Dept. Head |
Cultural Context: We typically hire interpreters whose first language is the one for which they are translating. Most of our interpreters have lived in the country of the language they interpret – and they now live in the United States. This offers a great advantage because our interpreters have a cultural context for both parties they will be serving. Having a cultural context for both the American and foreign cultures is very important to providing an accurate interpretation.
(Please note that many of our competitor’s interpreters have never lived in the U.S., and thus do not have a good cultural context for the English-speaking clients they try to serve).
Quality Training: Our training program requires employees to learn an extensive list of terms specific to the industry they'll be serving. Additionally, newly hired interpreters initially work with experienced interpreters to learn the proper protocol and techniques required for over-the-phone interpreting.
Confidentiality: Propio’s management and its staff understand the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of interpreting sessions. Each member of our staff is trained in HIPAA requirements and signs a confidentiality agreement prior to starting employment.
